S'étant assoupie dans une chambre à débarras, la petite Alice croit voir s'animer un lapin blanc empaillé et le suit dans sa fuite à travers le tiroir d'une table de travail. Elle se retrouve dans un monde étrange rempli d'objets hétéroclites et de créatures bizarres. La manducation de biscuits magiques la fait grandir ou rapetisser à volonté ce qui lui vaut des aventures déconcertantes dans la maison du lapin, à un goûter chez un chapelier fou et à la cour de la reine de coeur.
