Sur un élégant yacht croisant au large de la Sardaigne, Raffaella (Mariangela Melato), une riche et éblouissante capitaliste, s'amuse à tourmenter Gennarino (Giancarlo Giannini), un marin communiste. Mais le destin leur réserve une surprise et les rôles s'inversent lorsque les deux se retrouvent sur une île déserte. Raffaella doit alors se soumettre à Gennarino pour survivre, ce qui culmine dans un moment dramatique lorsqu'ils sont finalement sauvés. Ils doivent ensuite déterminer si leur amour peut survivre aux dures réalités du retour à la civilisation.

On an elegant yacht off the coast of Sardinia, Raffaella (Mariangela Melato), a rich and dazzling capitalist, enjoys tormenting Gennarino (Giancarlo Giannini), a Communist sailor. But fate has a surprise in store for them, and the roles are reversed when the two find themselves on a desert island. Raffaella must submit to Gennarino in order to survive, culminating in a dramatic moment when they are finally rescued. They must then determine whether their love can survive the harsh realities of returning to civilization.
